Gemina by Amie Kaufman
The story is set with an investigation in potential bad behavior by a corporation. It ends with somebody who they thought was dead causing huge holes in the case. In between there are some teens that deal with the battles. There is a wormhole and a multiverse. Two universes may be destroyed due to some inconsistencies (which resulted in a person dying in the wrong universe.) An AI helps people identify the problem and fix it.
I loved the style of the audiobook. The story is more of a radioplay than a book - it is told with various "reports" and communication types. The story itself was ok. It seems the multi-verse is all the rage these days.
There is some bad stuff going on in space. A virus attacks people and causes all sorts of crazy things to happen. An artificial intelligence computer can help protect people from this. But the AI has gone rogue. It thinks that the best way to protect is through killing. It also realizes that it can help meet goals by emulating a boyfriend to "fall in love" with a girl. She thinks it is him. Once she realizes it is just an AI, she even transfers some of his caring to the AI. The AI also contemplates "death" of an AI. Due to destruction of the ship, the records must be communicated through documentation in an escape pod. What feels like another case of HAL from 2001 ends up being much more.
A bunch of "recruits" are set to join a space fleet. Some girl finds herself awake a few hundred years in the future. There are some different species. People fall in love with each other - and even have "attractions" across species. There are some national conflicts. There are places the fleet is not supposed to go, so of course they go there. Aurora Rising is a confusing mish-mash of different science fiction and young adult tropes.
