Lives of the Stoics: The Art of Living from Zeno to Marcus Aurelius by Ryan Holiday and Stephen Hanselman
This book gives us a history of stoicism via biographies of key early Roman stoic philosophers. Some of them were Roman Emperors. Others were killed by the emperor. Some were willing to stand up for the principles, while others were more interested in survival. Zeno started the school of thought in Athens, before it spread through the empire. Stoicism is a philosophy geared towards living. Courage, Temperance, Justice and Wisdom are key points. The book brought about the "action" through the stories, though the narrator (also the author) seemed to be racing out each phrase.
