J.D. learns to cut hair. He does a pretty good job with all the fancy hairdos that kids like. Soon he has a business set up in his small Mississippi town. However, the real barber objects and calls in the health department. J.D. tries to resolve things by having a haircutting competition. He wins. Now the barber won't challenge J.D. However, his family starts to object to all the kids and haircutting. When the barber offers him a seat in his shop, he does the calculations and goes for it. The story ends with potential for sibling conflict. The audiobook production could be a little difficult to understand at times. It was nice and short.
