Buzz wants a pet. He finds Fly Guy. People say that he is not a pet. However, Fly Guy wins everyone over with his tricks and communication with Buzz. The translation is easy enough to understand even with some words that I had not known.

This is a phonics version of the first Fly Guy book. It mostly follows the plot of the first book, though the story has been changed a bit to follow the phonics format. It also seems to abridge it a bit, with only some of the pictures used. Buzz finds fly guy as a pet. It seems to work alright.

A kid worries he is falling apart. Stuffing is coming out of his belly button. His hair is falling out. He brain is coming out his nose. He is losing his teeth. The glue holding him is not working anymore. In the end he finds out that this is all normal and he is not falling apart. It is funny in text and drawings.

Fly Guy

A boy has a bet fly. He calls him Fly Guy. Fly Guy can say the boys name. Buzzz.
A variation of those lines starts most books in the Fly Guy Series by Ted Arnold. Fly Guy is a true pet and "talks" with Buzz, using words that have "ZZZZ" in them. The stories are formulaic, with a few chapters of adventures with Buzz and Fly Guy. Tedd Arnold has a very cartonish style that works well for the books. Beginning readers can make it through some of the short short chapters, while younger children also enjoy the books.
