The Mirror and the Light is the third in the historical trilogy about Thomas Cromwell. This presents the final part of his life as he completes his rise and then falls out of favor. It goes on and on and on. There are endless debates concerning intricacies of Christian theology. At the time these seemed incredibly important (and led to the rise of protestantism.) Today it seems rather petty. There is also a huge concern about marriage, sex and production of offspring along with sidenotes on the role of the woman. This mixture of modern concerns with ancient concerns goes on for much too long.
