The AI Con: How to Fight Big Tech’s Hype and Create the Future We Want by Emily M. Bender and Alex Hanna
According to this book, AI is a useless technology that can't do much of anything. It is only technology company hype that is driving the interest in what is just old technology. Companies are using it as a way to pay creatives less to edit instead of create. The book criticizes both the AI boomers and doomers. The authors don't think that AI will amount to much of anything. Is there some truth to their argument? Maybe. But the argument is so one-sided that it is hard to believe.
