The Strange Order of Things: Life, Feeling, and the Making of Cultures
Homeostasis is the key to life and cultures. This book wanders around other topics like feelings. The author seemed very eager to put forward his point, but it was not clear what exactly the point was. There was something about "feelings" being important. Also some organisms could work together and do things and have a form of society without having a mind like a human. Artificial Intelligence only touches a small aspect of the "thinking". I had trouble understanding exactly what the thesis was, though I will admit it did seem a bit "strange" as the title suggests.
