Belinda

Belinda by Maria Edgeworth

Belinda feels like a Jane Austen book, but better. There are plenty of well-to-do people hobnobbing in England. They worry about marriage and relationships. The novel has deals a lot with medicine and doctors. What was the position of doctors in the early 1800s? Did they actually help, or just cause more problems?
