The Web: Alex Delaware, Book 10

The Web: Alex Delaware, Book 10 by Jonathan Kellerman

A detective/psychologist goes to the island of Aruk. There he encounters a crime and other things. There is mystery and murder that is part of this novel. However, I was most drawn in while the discussion of the island, politics and history. There was a lot of issues with how Pacific islands were handled, especially around World War II. Some would be literally nuked is part of bomb testing. Others had multiple overloads. Some were given independence with access to great economic resources (like Guano), only to have that lead to the ills of wealth with a non-renewable resource. There were plenty of other harms that had appeared in these islands and struggles as people dealt with them. Some islanders would much rather never having integrated in to normal society.

The novel also has murder and other crimes. Those were not as interesting.
