Mary Poppins: The Mary Poppins Series, Book 1 by P. L. Travers
I couldn't help but think of the songs from the movie as I listened to the audiobook. The details of the movie plot were a little fuzzy, but the songs seem to go along with some of the adventures. in book, Mary seemed much more strict and cruel. Instead of the happy Mary Poppins from the movie, she is a much meaner (and vain) woman in the book. The kids seem reluctant to follow orders, yet excited when some of the adventures occur as if from a dream.
