She finally finds out who her mother is. She has boyfriend troubles. The kids also get appointed to some legitimate positions of responsibility. There is also plenty of fighting.
It feels like half the book is spent with her trying to find out who her parents are. She thinks she is certain a few time, but it was incorrect. Then she finally finds out when she wasn't trying.
The boy problems come and go. It becomes more and more difficult to determine who is on the Neverseen and who is part of the Black Swan. Alliances also shift. One boy even spends some time as a Dwarf king. The book starts and ends with cliffhangers.
