Duck sees a newspaper ad for a talent show with the winner receiving a trampoline. The animals practice at night. When the farmer took them to the fair, the animals snuck off to perform. Duck ended up winning with his "Born to Be Wild" rendition and won the trampoline. In addition tot he story, the book includes humorous footnotes.
