Thieves' Gambit by Kayvion Lewis
A girl has no family but her mom and aunt. (Her sperm-donor father died before she could meet him.) She participates in acts of thievery with her mom. She decides she wants to get out, and plans an escape during a heist. However, she sees her mom captured. Now she wants to get her back. there is a thieves' game that she can participate in that will help her get a wish. She participates. There are lots of conflicts and what not. She even does well. Then she discovers that it may all be a ruse from her mom. It is an adequate story.
