Ravi Batra has made a number of counterintuitive predictions that have come true. He mentions many of these in his book. He also made a number of predictions that have not come about. These don't get the same coverage.
His general theory is that society moves through a number of different ages of leadership. These are connected with the different types of people doing the leading. There are those that rely on their mind, those that rely on their strength and those that are focussed on amassing more material goods. There is also a fourth type, probably the "peasant" that carries out their duties. Each of these types has strengths and comes into leadership. However, each can also lead to their own downfall. Now the west is dominated by those seeking money. This leads to debauchery and a coming revolution that will bring about the new golden age. He does point out cases in the past where the analysis has played out, such as Rome. Unfortunately, his analysis of the Islamic world does not seem to accurately follow the cycle. It does still remain an interesting theory.
He earlier predicted the fall of the Soviet Union (but also that of the capitalistic west.) In this book, he predicts that there will be a bursting of a housing bubble and a financial meltdown. He was off by a year, but did seem to hit it fairly accurately. He did predict a revolution arising out of it. Perhaps we can count Trumpism? But Obama did get re-elected before that. I guess making a vague enough prediction does give you the advantage of declaring the truth no matter what.
